childs play

Hi Bloggy friends! Hope you are all doing great. Its holidays here in NZ. I love not having to be anywhere, drop offs and pick ups etc...but I find all day with three kids very very long! Any hoo time for a post NOT about cake!
The other day I couldn't believe how long Zak-zak was
occupied with this broom. He spent a good half an hour with it. I have tons of preschool age appropriate toys...and do you think he's interested? Nope. Opening and closing doors, unraveling toilet paper, opening and closing draws, pulling books off the bookshelf...these are the things my one year old occupies his time with.

Oh and he has started walking. Yipee! (*insert sarcastic face here*) Getting better at it with each day. Along with this has come the climbing...and the falling. We have had a few bumps to the head. He just has not figured out "backwards". You've gotta keep your eyes peeled at this age. The moment the back door is open, he heads out the back steps and doesn't look back. Man I hope I don't have one of those moments where the neighbour finds him up the road. It hasn't happened with the other kids and I pray it never does!

Stuck between a wall and the desk...oh dear.

How did you find the explorer age?

EAT SOME CAKE

EAT SOME CAKE

THATS ALL.

AS YOU WERE.

I was just playing around with my new piping bag...I think I'll keep practicing :) I kinda like the joyful mess look. Adds a nice bit of texture to a boring banana cake.

yummy goings on.

Oh my Goodness Cup Cakes.
I was in the mood for some cup cakes and thought I would have a look through Delissimons blog for the perfect one...because you know shes a baking goddess right?! And I came across her Best Fudge Cake recipe. It had an interesting range of ingredients...which excluded eggs and dairy and had white wine vinegar. I love trying out a new recipe so I gave it ago. And OMG(oodness) they are delish all right. The texture was uniquely different, and the best part was it was a throw it all in the bowl and mix kinda recipe. Just my kind. I HATE creaming butter and sugar. Ive hated it ever since Miss Bolus (my form 1 Home Economics teacher) made us do it by hand! Any hoo, they came out yummy as. I topped it with a peanut butter cream icing. Yes I'm still on my Reece's peanut butter cup craze. Try it out and have a look at Mons other recipes.
Cheesy surprise meatballs.

I can't remember where I learnt this idea but it has a great way of making the meatballs fun. Add a square of cheese in the middle of your meatball and roll in to a ball. Bake meatball until just cooked. Throw them in with your favourite tomato sauce recipe over a bed of spaghetti pasta. Viola. Dinner is served.

Griffins Collisions
Have you tried any of these from Griffins? I may or may not have bought one of each just to try them all..*ahem*. Well they were on special! Our (mine and Hubsters) conclusion was that the Mint treat cross with the Mallow puff was the best. The other ones all the just seem to blend into the same biscuit. I like how the chocolate mint treat has that solid base of chocolate biscuit and they do it in this biscuit too. That along with the mint flavoured marshmallow....Marriage made in heaven. Yummo.

I dont mean to boast but...

I don't mean to boast but, My husband is awesome. The guy works all week and then capably takes care of the kids on the weekend while I work.
He's not the greatest cook...probably because I don't let him near my kitchen, so when Im away for the evening shift the kitchen is all his. Imagine my surprise to find this blog including pictures of his night. Not many dads can handle THREE kids during jungle hour. But mine can..usually ;) And then most mornings since he's up early, he gets the kids breaky and looks after Zak zak while I gain a few more minutes sleep.
Love you My love. You are a great Dadda
